Dear Parents,
The students of Class V, after much research, discussion and planning have created a menu for the month of January to promote healthy eating habits, keeping in mind the nutritional requirements.
Please follow it from Tuesday, 02.01.2024. Wishing all of you a Happy New Year in advance.

Sabudana Tikki
Banana
Walnuts
Sabudana or sago pearls are a rich source of carbohydrates.
Bananas are rich in potassium.
Walnuts are rich in Vitamin B6 and Vitamin E, important for a healthy heart.
Tuesday
Cheese Paratha
Orange
Almonds
Cheese Paratha is yummy and rich in protein.
Oranges prevent colds, flus and ear infections.
Almonds are good to snack on and a great source of energy.
Wednesday
Vegetable Sorghum (Jowar) Upma
Cucumber
Cashews
Jowar has a high fibre content and helps improve digestion.
Cucumber helps in hydration.
Cashews promote healthy skin and boost the immune system.
Thursday
Vegetable brown bread sandwich
Apples
Pistachios
The goodness of brown bread with fresh vegetables makes it a complete food, high in energy and rich in vitamins.
Apples ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’
Pistachios are tasty and good for brain health.
Friday
Dal Chilla
Papaya
Fox Nuts
Dal Chilla is an alternative to consuming dals/pulses. It is a storehouse of energy and proteins.
Papaya is rich in vitamin A, good for our eyesight.
Fox nuts are abundant in calcium and keep our bones strong.
Please note:
- The quantity of the food packed should be appropriate to the appetite of your child.
- A napkin must be carried to school daily.
- Fork/ spoon should be carried every day.
- Packaged food items should not be sent.
- Minimum oil should be used.
- It is advisable to give extra tiffin to the students on club activity days.
RECIPE OF THE MONTH
SORGHUM (JOWAR) UPMA
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cup sorghum (jowar) seeds
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 1 finely chopped carrot
- 1/4 cup sweet corn
- 1/4 cup green peas
- 1 tbsp roasted peanut
- 1-inch grated ginger
- 2 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 chopped green chilli
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp black pepper powder
- salt, as per taste
- 4 cups vegetable stock or water
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tsp lemon juice
PROCEDURE:
- Wash and soak jowar pearls overnight.
- Pressure cook in low heat for about 10 minutes.
- Steam the vegetables and keep them ready.
- Heat oil in a wok and sauté the chopped onion, garlic and ginger until soft.
- Add all ingredients till no. n cook covered for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.

Dear Parents,
This is to inform you that the ASSET Tests are scheduled to take place in school on the following dates :
English - Tuesday, 16th January 2024
Mathematics - Wednesday, 17th January 2024
Science - Thursday, 18th January 2024
The tests are compulsory for the students of Classes III, V and VIII. However, for students of Classes IV, VI to VII, only those who have registered will be allowed to appear for the tests.
Other details regarding the examinations will be shared by the Class Teachers closer to the date.

Dear Parents,

We request our students to reach out to the less privileged people around us by gifting them with something new and useful.

Dear Parent,
Please note the following with regard to the Annual Sports to be held at Geetanjali Stadium, Rajdanga on Friday, 22nd December 2023.
* All students must report at Geetanjali Stadium by 9:00 a.m. Dispersal will be at the end of the Sports Meet which is expected to be around 3:00 p.m.
* Students of Classes I to V will wear their drill uniform from home.
* All students must wear their school socks and regulation shoes. Their hair must be neatly tied.
* All students must bring their sports equipment as instructed by the Class Teacher.
* They must carry a sun cap and some dry tiffin.
* Parents will not be allowed to interact with the students while the Sports Meet is on.
* Students will be dispersed against their I.D cards after all the events are over. Please note that no child will be released early.

The session will be conducted by Mr Bivujit Mokhoty, Programme Manager, IAYP, on 3rd January 2024 from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm.
