A Hint of Courage

I still vividly remember the day my friend dragged me to the auditions just because she didn’t want to be alone in the crowd. And even though I despised crowds, I went along because I got to skip math, I mean what’s better than that? So, I went with her and oh, the number of people in the CPA. But none of that mattered. We calmly sat through the entire prep given by the directors, and then we were handed scripts to audition. I really didn’t want to do it, but I’m so glad I mustered up the courage and did.

That was my first step into the world, quite literally, I kid you not. Before that, I had never been to an audition, never been in front of a crowd, never talked to anybody except the few friends I had. Believe me when I say that one audition totally and completely altered the course of my life. Suddenly, I went from a loser who was completely unknown and invisible to being known by so many. Though I always preferred and made earnest attempts to stay invisible, I must admit it was nice being known, it was nice feeling appreciated.

I went from the girl who never took off her mask, even after COVID-19, to a girl who talked to practically the entire cast of Mahabharat. I stepped out of my cocoon, the one I was so, so scared to leave, fearing that I would fall, that I wouldn’t be able to fly. But somehow, I did. It not only helped me step into the world but also helped me discover my first-ever passion, the first thing I was ever good at acting.

Harnessing that one skill gave me a plethora of opportunities and a chance to befriend the most amazing people. It also gave me the courage to do so many more things. It encouraged me to explore myself. So, my fellow teens, do not be scared to try new things. When you open one door, a hundred more open, and I am a living example of that. Take that risk, do that thing even if it messes you up. At least you’ll have learned something, and gained some experience, right? So just stop being a lily-livered coward and do it. This is your sign!
