Title: Just a book
I’m sitting at my coffee table, book in my hands, tucked in a study chair with music in the background. My body seems to be in the most uncomfortable position yet I can’t help but smile.
I can’t help but feel happy about the couple that finds themselves in the ink. I’m not wondering when that would be me or hate that it’s not me. I’m too busy giggling over the ridiculous rom-com in my hands and my heart exhilarating as it plays out.
Some may find this simple pleasure inadequate, but why not revel in it? The joy comes not from simplicity, romance, or music, but from the inked words and the feel of the paperback against my fingertips.
It’s not the simplicity.
It’s not the cheesy romance.
It’s not the music.
It’s the inked words.
It’s the feel of the paperback.
It’s the book.
It’s the ruffling through the pages that gives me a rush of anticipation yet a tinge of sadness when I realize I’m another page closer to the end. However, I am too occupied to be worrying about sadness. In this simple moment, I find solace in the printed words and the tangible weight of the paperback in my hands. It’s a feeling of belonging, of being in tune with the rhythm of the story and the melody of the music playing softly in the background.
I’m a bookworm. I can not consume a good book within hours. I can never leave one down, even if it has chills running down my spine.
Because a book is all the happiness I need. It is the best escape I get from the dystopic world when it gets overwhelming. It is more than just a collection of words bound together. It’s a portal to other worlds, a refuge from the chaos of everyday life. It is everything I need to feel like I truly belong, stirring up strong emotions and making me feel whole.
This book, with its well-used pages and worn cover, takes me to new places. Every sentence leads to adventures beyond my imagination. I feel like I’m living alongside the characters, sharing their ups and downs. Reading isn’t just a hobby; it’s a journey through emotions and experiences.
Even with all the excitement, there’s a calm feeling. I know I’m in the right place. There’s nothing better than getting lost in a good story and feeling the words like a warm hug. It’s like coming home to an old friend and finding comfort in the familiar pages of a book.
It is never just a book.
It is a world I call ‘Home’.
