May 2023 was a busy yet resourceful month for Aastha Ruia of class 5. Her summer activity for this year was a mixture of fun and knowledge. Aastha says that she felt as if she was actually contributing something constructive for the betterment of the Earth. During the summer holidays Aastha along with her mother and maternal grandmother took mango seeds from the mangoes her family had eaten, washed them, dried them and sent them to an NGO in Mumbai in ziplock packets. When asked for the cause, she said that mango trees were really beneficial for the Earth as they absorbed a lot of Carbon-Dioxide from the air and let out huge amounts of oxygen. Mango trees are thus considered really significant for our planet. The NGO where Aastha had sent the mango seeds, have started a project in which they have planned to plant over ten lakh mango trees in India for the benefit of the environment. The mango tree plantation is a huge factor contributing towards saving the Earth from global warming. Encouraged by her class teacher Aastha decided to perform this activity. She is definitely a source of inspiration for the students of class 5.
