The members of the SNEH Club of Sushila Birla Girls’ School undertook a two-day visit to Purulia on 25th and 26th September 2026 as part of Daan Utsav 2026. A team comprising of 30 students, 2 teachers and the Senior Co-Curricular Coordinator visited remote and underserved communities and participated actively in distribution drives, awareness sessions and interactive sessions with local residents and school students.
Day 1 – Visit at Silingda Village
On 25th September 2026, the students travelled to the remote village of Silingda, Purulia, where essential groceries and food items were distributed among approximately 90 families. The students enthusiastically participated in the distribution of essential items and interacted with the villagers. These interactions allowed them to understand the challenges faced by the community and the ways in which families manage their everyday lives with limited resources.
Day 2 – Educational Outreach at Vidyasagar Sishu Siksha Niketan
On 26th September 2026, the students visited Vidyasagar Sishu Siksha Niketan, a school located in the village of Jadugora. The students of SBGS took an active role in conducting educational and awareness-based sessions for the children there.
The sessions by the students of SBGS were age – appropriate and engaging, giving them an opportunity to take responsibility as peer educators and communicators. Several useful items were donated to support the residential students and the functioning of the school. These included fans, phenyl and cleaning supplies, grocery and food items, stationery, bulbs, a mixer grinder.
The interaction also demonstrated that meaningful connection does not necessarily depend upon similarity of circumstances. Shared conversations, curiosity, playfulness and mutual respect enabled the students from both schools to connect naturally.
