Republic Day, celebrated on 26th January every year, marks a significant milestone in India’s history as it honours the day the Constitution came into force in 1950, transforming the nation into a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. At Sushila Birla Girls’ School, the festivities commenced with the ceremonial unfurling of the national flag by Maj Gen V N Chaturvedi, Secretary General of the Vidya Mandir Society. This was followed by a heartfelt rendition of patriotic songs and the national anthem, instilling a deep sense of unity and national pride in everyone present.
As part of the celebrations, the students also watched the inspiring speech of the President of India, Ms Draupadi Murmu. Her address emphasised the values enshrined in the Constitution and encouraged the younger generation to uphold these ideals. The speech served as a powerful reminder of their responsibilities as citizens and left a lasting impression on their minds.
