Smayan, a fest organised by Sneh, the social service committee of Sushila Birla Girls’ School primarily aims at helping children with special needs to showcase their talents and to make them feel included. The 14th edition of Smayan took place on the 7th and 10th of December, 2019. The tagline for this year was ‘Every flower blooms at its own pace’. SMAYAN literally means smile and this justifies the vision of the event which is making these children feel good about them and making them happy about every small achievement of theirs.

The offstage events were held on Saturday, 7th December 2019. The occasion was graced by the honorable presence of Dr Reena Sen. The day was marked by a number of events like academic booth, techno skills, T shirt painting, drawing and colouring, clay modelling, elocution in Bengali, English and Hindi and non-conventional music or dhun.

The onstage events were held on Tuesday, 10th December 2019 for which the Guest of Honour was Mr Ranveer Singh Saini. Mr Ranveer Singh Saini had been diagnosed with autism at the age of two, but that did not stop him from reaching great heights. He created history by winning the first Gold medal for India in Golf at the Special Olympics, World Games, Los Angeles, 2015.

Students from 15 schools including Noble Mission, Oral School, Manovikas Kendra, Behala Bodhayan, Asha School, etc participated in these events.
