Dear Parents,

The students of Class V have created a menu for the months of April & May 2024 to promote healthy eating habits, keeping in mind the nutritional requirements and taste. Please follow it from Monday 08.04.24.

Banana

 A bowl of upma has fibre, vitamins, and healthy fats.

 

 Banana are a rich source of fibre and potassium

 Wednesday

Veg Chivda

 

 

 

Cucumber slices

 Many Chivda recipes include nuts like almonds, cashews, and peanuts, contributing healthy fats, protein, and essential nutrients.

 

Cucumbers are good for Hydration & Detoxification.

Roti and bhindi sabzi/ lady finger vegetable

 

 

 

Chaas / buttermilk

Bhindi masala and roti is a delicious Indian dish that consists of bhindi cooked with herbs, and spices which are consumed with roti. The main ingredient, bhindi, is a low-GI food, rich in fibre.  It helps in regulating blood sugar levels.

 

Buttermilk helps to relieve acidity and improves digestion.

Watermelon

 Sabudana is a good source of energy, easy to digest, prevents constipation.

Please note:

  • The quantity of the food packed should be appropriate to the appetite of your child.
  • A napkin must be carried to school daily.
  • Fork/ spoon should be carried every day.
  • Packaged food items should not be sent.
  • Minimum oil should be used.
  • It is advisable to give extra tiffin to the students on the days they have afternoon activity.

 

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Sabudana Tikki 

  • ½ cup soaked sabudana / sago / tapioca
  • 1 boiled and mashed raw banana
  • 1 large potato, boiled and peeled
  • ¼ cup peanuts / groundnuts, roasted & crushed
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder / jeera powder
  • ½ tsp aamchur / dry mango powder
  • salt to taste
  • 6 tsp oil, for roasting

 

INSTRUCTIONS

•     firstly, take soaked sabudana in large mixing bowl

•     add in 1 large boiled and grated potato and raw banana.

•     also add ¼ cup crushed peanuts, 1 inch ginger, 1 chilli, 2 tbsp coriander leaves, ¼ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp aamchur and salt to taste.

•     combine, mix and mash well with your hand.

•     now prepare small flat patties.

•     roast the sabudana tikki (patties) on medium hot tawa.

•     spread few tsp of oil, for even roasting.

•     finally, serve sabudana tikki with tomato sauce or green chutney.
