Humanity over Calamity

Humanity over Calamity was an endeavour undertaken in the academic session 2021-2022 by Sushila Birla Girls’ School to offer a helping hand to those in financial distress during the 2nd wave of the Pandemic. Our attempt was to cater to both body & mind as the Pandemic had created a psychological threat in the form of fear and uncertainty.

The drive was divided into three phases:

The first phase was spreading awareness by the students through poster making and slogan writing.

The second phase was Covi mentoring wherein the students of SBGS organized a programme to spread positivity amongst the students of RISE, Krishnanagar. The students of RISE were provided a helpline for a month, through which the MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS TEAM of the school agreed to counsel them over the phone. Under this segment, the school also donated a Caravan radio to the inmates of Navanir, an old age home to spread happiness in their lives in the form of music.

In the third and final phase, parents, students, teachers and alumnae came together on 10th June, 2021 and wholeheartedly contributed to the cause. 11 NGOs were selected and their requirements were noted.

Our alumnae contributed their provision to VOW - Voice of world. The contribution made by the teachers primarily went to the NGOs Ek Tara and Navanir – Old age home.

Contribution made generously by our students & parents went to Mother’s Nest, Lake Gardens Women & Children Dev Center, A Little Contribution- (ALC),  Kid’s Centre, Bijoygarh Boy’s Home, Alokendu Bodh Niketan, Karuna and Let’s make them smile - Robinhood Army.

This small effort would definitely be a valuable lesson for our students and help them become responsible & empathetic citizens of the country.
