Prefect Investiture 2024


The investiture ceremony for the newly elected Senior School Student Council was held on 9th February 2024.The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Anjana Saha, Principal, Mahadevi Birla World Academy. Daan Utsav at Purulia 2024


On 12th January 2024, 31 students along with four teachers and two parents from Sushila Birla Girls' School embarked on a mission to spread joy in Sidhu Kanho, an orphanage in Purulia. Books, stationery, school bags, food, play items, medical kits and sanitary napkins were distributed among the 50 odd children of the orphanage.

Sushila Birla Memorial Day was celebrated on 4th October 2023 at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium with a magnificent production ‘The Roll of the Dice’ –the Mahabharata from the perspective of the women characters. The cast comprised 305 students from various classes. The programme aimed to bring to life the timeless saga of the Mahabharata, immersing the audience in its rich narratives, values and cultural heritage.

On 15th August 2023, Sushila Birla Girls’ School celebrated the 77th Independence Day in the school premises. This was followed by the Felicitation Ceremony for the high achievers of AISSCE 2023 at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. The programme was graced by dignitaries, parents and students of the school. On 19th and 20th July, 2023,  ‘Swabhimaan’, the Social Entrepreneurship Club of Sushila Birla Girls’ School, organised CRAFTASTIC-2023 in collaboration with the Rural Craft and Cultural Hubs of West Bengal.  Various handicrafts like Sabai, Dokra, Kantha and Madur, prepared by the rural artisans from different parts of West Bengal, were on display in the fair.

Forty-nine students and four teachers from Sushila Birla Girls' School travelled to Sriharihota to witness the historic launch of Chandrayaan-3. The third lunar exploration mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation, Chandrayaan-3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 2.35 pm  on Thursday, 14th July 2023.

On 13th July 2023, the Sapling Plantation Programme was held in Sushila Birla Girls' School. 71 students from Classes I to XII participated in the same. It was a collaborative project between the SNEH committee and the Bengali Department. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Ramesh Chandran from Vinisha, an NGO that works for the environment. Parents were also an integral part of this social endeavour.

To acknowledge the contribution of the medical fraternity, the students of Nursery celebrated National Doctors' Day on Monday, 3rd July 2023. Dr. Garima Jain, Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery and a parent, was invited to spread awareness about the importance of good personal hygiene among the students.

Pretend play where the little ones dressed up as doctors and treated their 'sick' friends and teachers using their toy kits was not only adorable but also promoted empathy.

On 22nd June 2023, a bagless day was organised for the students of Class II. Various activities were planned throughout the day to make learning fun. An interactive session was conducted by Mrs Anupama Das, Senior School Home Science teacher and a certified nutrition consultant. She highlighted the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise for healthy bones and muscles. A quiz, worksheets and a memory game helped reinforce the concept further.

On 8th and 9th May 2023, a training session on 'Special Needs of Children' was facilitated by Ms Gagandeep Kaur, Founder and Director, Unique Psychological Services, for the teachers of the primary section. Role plays, case studies, group discussions and activities conducted aimed at helping teachers understand the requirements of children with special needs better. Teachers teaching Classes Nursery to III attended a workshop conducted by Mrs. S. Kapur on 17th March 2023. The two hour session was packed with various strategies teachers can use to be more effective and dynamic in their classrooms. The rules of constructing good sentences at various levels and the importance of a multi-dimensional approach to learning were discussed at length.

Magical March 3.0 comprised a series of workshops organised for the students of Classes Nursery to V.

Resource people were invited to conduct most of the sessions which included workshops on mask painting, clay modelling, acapella, drama, rhythmic yoga and zumba. 

 Apart from being full of fun and vigour, the workshops aimed at boosting the self-esteem of students, providing them hands-on training in specialised areas and stimulating their creativity and imagination.

26th January 2023 was a day of festivities at Sushila Birla Girls' School.The flag hoisting, on the occasion of Republic Day, was followed by Saraswati Puja in the school.

An art exhibition was also organised to pay homage to Ma Saraswati, the goddess of learning. Teachers, students and the support staff participated enthusiastically in the events.

As per NEP 2020 recommendation sent by CBSE, Department of Hindi, Mrs. S. Chakraborty and Mrs. Fatwani made students of Class-III aware of different Indian languages . This session was conducted on 25 January, 2023.

 Special attention was given to the mother tongue and regional languages. In a multi-linguistic programme, students expressed their views on their respective mother tongues and regional languages such as Gujarati, Punjabi, Marwadi, Bangla, Urdu etc.

On 23rd December 2022, the Annual Sports Day of Sushila Birla Girls' School was held at Gitanjali Stadium.  Students, teachers, ex- students, parents and  support  staff participated in various track events. The spectators were mesmerised by the zumba, drill, yoga and karate display presented by the students. The novelty races of the primary section captured the imagination of the spectators.

On 23rd September 2022, the students and teachers of Sushila Birla Girls' School travelled to Uttar Chandanpiri, a small hamlet in Sunderban to distribute survival kits and other essential items to 500 villagers. LED lights, toys, teaching aids and various stationery items were donated to Uttar Chandanpiri Prathamik Vidyalaya. 265 students of the school were also given food items.

‘Hindi Diwas' was celebrated at Sushila Birla Girls’ School on 14th September 2022. Students from Class III showcased the richness of Hindi Literature with the programme, ‘Hindi -  Bharat Ki Shaan’. The presentation started with a speech on the significance of  Hindi Diwas followed by a famous play by Bhartendu  Harishchandra titled ‘Andher Nagri, Choupat Raja’.  The programme concluded with a song eulogising the Hindi language.

Rath Yatra


The Nursery students celebrated Rath Yatra, the Festival of Chariots on 12th July. The students were enlightened about Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra  and their chariots through a PPT presentation. The bhajan, ‘Achhutam Keshvam’ was sung and to make the learning process even more interesting, the students were virtually taken to Puri to visit the famous Jagannath Temple. As a follow-up activity, they coloured the picture of the Rath.

Sarsawati puja was celebrated on 16 th February, 2021. The puja was performed in the school campus in the presence of a few teachers. On 26th January 2021, the students of Sushila Birla Girls’ School celebrated the 72nd Republic Day of India .Students from Classes V - XII  participated through the virtual platform. The recitation of a Bengali patriotic poem was followed by the soulful rendition of the last stanza of the national anthem. The dance troupe performed to the tune of  ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ which was accompanied by a short narration.

Students of Class V portraited the life of Mahatma Gandhi through a Special Assembly, which everyone could view on the school official page of Facebook. The girls depicted the life of Gandhi with emphasis on the “Dandi March”. Their History chapter helped them to write the script for the role play. The other classes celebrated the life of Gandhi ji with YouTube videos and ppt presentations.

The Annual Sports of Sushila Birla Girls’ School for Nursery and KG was held on the 31st of January, 2020.

The little ones synchronized their drill steps to the music in perfect harmony, collaborating with the ISA theme of ‘Birds’.

The Annual Kindergarten concert was held on the 24th September, 2019.  The concert was based on the story of ‘The Selfish Giant’ written by Oscar Wilde. Children gave a commendable performance. The wonderful music and well-designed costume, make-up and props were very impressive. The characters including our two giants enacted the tale flawlessly. The melodious choir, the confident narrators and the wonderful dancers were appreciated by all. It was a visual treat for everyone.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, an Inter House Yoga Competition was organised on 21st June, 2019 for the students of Classes III, IV and V. Students of Nursery and KG also tried different asanas.

There were five participants from each House. Each participant had to do four compulsory asanas (Chakrasana, Halasana, Matsyasana and Dhanurasana) and one asana of her choice.

Annual school Sports was held on 12th December, 2018. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Meeraj Khalid, DC South Kolkata. The event saw the four houses competing with each other in March Past, flat race, sack race, skipping, hurdles as well as Novelty Races. Novelty Race was held for the students of classes I to III. Overall House trophy went to Kushan whereas the best house adjudged for March Past was the Chalukya House.
